Many people think that Tenouchi is difficult to understand and practice it. But it is misunderstanding.
Tenouchi is simple and it is ok to remember three things.
1, think the suitable left hand form from the kai.
2. Don’t grip the bow tightly
3. Push the bow with your root of little finger
tenouchi is simple thing and you can press the bow strongly with ease to practice three things.
But, there are other teaching about Tenouchi in the kyudo book. Beginner often has the problem
1.Your left hand tightens while moving your left hand to the target
2. You push the bow with your left hand bent downward and have the stress in the part between your pointer finger and your thumb.
You can push the bow with other method even if you can’t push the bow very well because of two problem.
Other method
1. Make a space between the bow and a part of Kokou. (Kokou is a part between your pointer finger and your thumb.)
2. Lift up your pointer finger
Let’s learn other method about how to use your left hand
1. Make a space between the bow and a part of Kokou.
(Kokou is a part between your pointer finger and the thumb)
This method makes you easier to move your left hand to the target.
If you touch the bow to the Kokou firmly, it can be difficult to move your left hand to the target because it’s hard to move your thumb around the bow at Daisan.
Then, try to make the open the space between the bow and Kokou like griping the bow with the tip of three fingers.
Old kyudo book (shagaku syousyu)explain that it is bad way to tighten the part between your pointer finger and your thumb.
If you tighten the part and push the bow, your arrow will fly down ward.
To prvent having the stiff of two fingers crotch, you should open two fingers and make a little space between the bow and two fingers crotch.
Lift up your pointer finger
To push the bow with your left wrist align straight, let’s lift up your pointer finger.
when you do that you can prevent bending your left wrist downward and push the bow strongly with this form.
Beginner often focus only on your thumb when moving your thumb around the bow.
As a result, you will tighten your thumb too much.
If you lift up your pointer finger, it become easier to move your thumb around the bow.
When you raise your pointer finger, your thumb will lower and It will leave from the bow. As a result, you can move your thumb naturally around the bow.
